Terminator Salvation toy pics... ugh...

Pics of the toys for the new Terminator movie are popping up over at Corner Store Comics.  I think there are some spoilers in the images there, so if you're spoiler conscious, skip it.  But the link has images of three scales of Terminator 4 figures:  10", 6" and 3 3/4".

Needless to say, I'm not too impressed with the figures.  They seem almost primitive compared to today's standards, like they belong on the toy shelves of 10 years ago.  And strangely, the figures seem to get less detailed and more clunky the larger they get.  So while I would expect Playmates to take advantage of the 10" scale to really show off some great sculpting and paint apps, the 10" figures are the worst of the bunch.

What does this mean for the upcoming Star Trek line? Since this is Playmates' most recent example of what it can do with a movie property, I'm not too optimistic about getting great Star Trek toys. But I guess they're not as bad as they could be... at least they're better than last year's Speed Racer figures.
