An Asian language trailer for the upcoming Chun Li movie has been released at what appears to be an official movie site. You can see some Chun Li fireball action in the trailer, and you can guess as to which villains are featured in the movie. There's a guy who looks suspiciously like Balrog, and another that might be Vega. Still no signs of the classic costume yet... I'm beginning to wonder if the blue jammies are the closest we'll get to the old costume.
Comparisons to the Dragonball movie are inevitable. I have less of a visceral repulsion to this movie than I do to Dragonball, but that's not saying much. There are a few explosion shots that look like they're done by the special effects crew for Sci-Fi Channel movies. Still, it might be neat to see a new take on Street Fighter characters, and fireballs are always fun. Check out the trailer for yourself at:

This looks like it will be better than DB, but it also looks like it will be similar to the xmen movies.

This looks exactly like what I would expect from a movie that casts Smallville-girl in the lead.
I don't understand what you mean....never willingly watched Smallville.
I compared it to Xmen due to the downplay of secondary character and Villain importance. And a huge change in costume design, and character personality.
Vega's appearance looks about as important as Lady deathstryke's appearance in X2. And really...Mcdonough as Bison looks rediculous.
So I don't have super high hopes for this movie, but it does look interesting enough to go see.
But so far no Ryu, Ken, Sagat, Guile, or any other SF2 characters accept Balrog appear to be in this film.

I agree with the statement that this looks like a Smallville-style movie. In fact, it looks pretty bad. I could have totally blasted it, but when I see trailers, I try to look for stuff that might be cool too. I'll save my ire for when I write the review for the movie. ;)
McDonough is supposed to be M. Bison? Holy crap... what horrible casting.
According to IMDB.com, the SF characters in the movie are as follows: Chun Li (dur), M. Bison, Vega, Balrog, and Gen. Gen looks way too young, though, so maybe he's a different character.
I find the casting choices bizarre, with an impressive -fail- on this kristen kreuk girl, not to mention Bison and the others ..good lord its like a parody movie. the iconic nature of the characters from the games themselves is integral to its appeal, without that why are you bothering?
