Steve posted a review of King of the Monsters for the SNES, a review in which a piece of my MUSCLE fan art makes a cameo. Don't worry, it's not Nasty Naked Lester, so the review is work safe.
Anyway, Steve's review is cool, and it got me thinking about movie monster games of the past. Of course, there's the arcade favorite Rampage, but one of my favorites from my childhood was The Movie Monster Game for Commodore 64. It was great for the time period, especially because it had Godzilla in a whopping 64-kilobytes of glory.
But even The Movie Monster Game paled in comparison to the awesomeness that was Mail Order Monsters (also for the C64). You could select your monster species and customize it with weapons and armor that you buy from money won from battles. Both of these games look atrocious now, but back then they were the coolest things ever to hit 5-inch floppy disks.

Nathan, thanks for linking my review on your site as well as giving me permission to use your artwork. Keep up the good work around here and happy holidays :)
No problem, dude! Great review!
I had both the Movie Monster game and Mail Order Monsters for C64. I remember loving both games, but I think the winner was Movie Monster. I remember being so happy when I destroyed a landmark in a city, but it felt like days to find one and move on to the next one.
